Match Report - 07 Feb 2010, HARVESTERS FOOTBALL CLUB U11 NORTH beat Whetstone Wanderers Cougars
Challenge Cup 2nd Round - 25 minutes each way.
Harvesters were in great form with every boy putting in a stylish and committed display. They achieved a 0-4 half time advantage with some of the best passing football the boys have played. The second half was tougher as the hosts had not given up hope but we still managed to add to our score to end up 1-7 victors.
George hit a great hat trick with goals in the 2nd, 12th and 40th minutes. As well as excellent finishing, his general passing, positioning and tracking back to tackle was superb. George won a well deserved Man of the Match award.
Dom, playing in midfield, scored two goals in the 17th and 30th minutes and tackled everything in sight. Dom's smile after scoring his first goal was one of the highlights of the season.
Ben was in a constant battle with the Cougars centre half and no inch was giving and there were some robust tackles. In one such challenge Ben got the better of the defender and struck a sublime drive in the 22nd minute into the top corner from wide out on the right.
Curtis wearing his new green boots was relieved to get a goal in the 36th minute which he finished with his usual effiency. Curtis found a lot of space with intelligent running, on the left wing and cutting inside, that the home team found it difficult to cope with.
Marco, Harvey, Billy and Adam all played an important role as well. It was really good seeing Adam and Harvey playing nice controlled passing whilst in defence and finding the midfield runners. Marco was as involved as ever with a number of good runs down the right wing and some superb crosses. Billy was playing well in midfield and hit a great through ball that set up a goal.
In all this wonderful play possibly the biggest mention should go to Ashley who was goalie for the day. Ashley looked a real natural and made some really good blocks. Ashley also has the biggest kick I have seen from any goalie at this age.
Well done boys on a performance that made the parents very proud
